Starting a Rental Business?
I live in Ontario, Canada right near one of the largest lakes in the province. I want to start a boat rental business. At first I will just start with some small 14 ft. aluminum boats and maybe get larger from there. I just want to know, what are some ways of getting some kind of collateral when renting a boat? I also want to know who is liable if I rent a boat to someone without their operator’s card.
Check out the competition first – go rent a boat and see how they handle it. Check the pricing on buying the boats. Check the insurance you would need to pay. Rent on a location with a dock – lavatories, rental office. Realize it would be a 3 month window to make your yearly income. Present you business plan to the bank and obtain a loan – maybe.
