Black Grey
If you are allowed 2 colors in printing, do black and grey count as separate colors?
Or one color since grey is just lighter black?
Only people who are knowledgeable about printing please – this is too important for a guess. Thanks.
They are one color IF your grey is a value of black (ie, 50%, 12% etc.) That means grey will just print as black dots that are more or less closely packed (in halftone pattern) depending on what value the grey is (think of a xerox machine that only uses black toner. It will print in “shades of grey”) However, if your grey is a specifically specified spot color (like a Pantone grey) then black and grey will be two colors.
Just make sure when you prepare your document, besides your 2nd color (let’s call it green) you are only using black and values of black for your text, and your images are greyscale or a monotone green.
