Case Holder
If you are going on a family trip to an amusement park, the first thing you should do is sit down with your kids and explain the rules and regulations in order for them to have a fun and safe experience. There are several dos and don’ts to abide by when it comes to amusement park visits.
Do:
• Bring a small bag with extra clothes for everyone. In case the children decide to go on a water ride, you may want to bring an extra shirt or pants as they’ll probably get soaking wet. You do not want them walking around the rest of the day without anything dry to wear, especially if it is later in the evening and the weather has cooled off. Some amusement parks allow you rent lockers for a small fee if you do not want to carry bags around all day.
• Carry ID badge holders and attach them to lanyards or clip them to a secure piece of clothing so they do not fall off on rides. In large amusement parks, it is easy to get lost in the crowd, especially when children want to run from one ride to another out of excitement. In the event that a child does get lost, he or she should carry some form of ID. If you are taking a teenager with you who does not want to wear an “uncool” badge holder, you can actually find a beaded lanyard for him or her to wear. A fashionable beaded lanyard with fun colors may help convince a teen who does not want to walk around with an ID hanging around the neck. No matter what, ID badge holders help ensure that, in case of an emergency, the needed information is available. The badge holders can also be a place for a list of emergency contact numbers, not just for ID cards. While on any ride, be sure to take the lanyard off and put it in a safe place so it does not go flying all over the place.
• Bring sun block. If it is a particularly hot day, you should get one that is specific for sports so that it is still effective while you are sweating. Sun block only lasts so long, and depending on how long you plan on being outdoors, you might need to reapply. Getting sunburn is never fun, and being exposed to the sun for long hours increases your chances of skin cancer. Protect you and those you love as best as possible.
Don’t:
• Pack snacks. Most amusement parks do not allow outside food or drinks, so do not stock up at the rest stop! You might have wanted to pack some chips or candy in order to avoid paying high prices, but amusement parks encourage their guests to buy snacks and drinks from one of their many vendors. Some of your bags may be subject to searches.
• Wear slip-on shoes or flip flops. If you plan on going on a roller coaster or a ride in which your feet must dangle, you might not want to wear shoes that could easily fall off. Some amusement parks allow you to take your shoes off and toss them somewhere on the platform (the area where you leave the ride). However, if you choose to do so, you open up the chances of the shoes being stolen. It would be best to wear shoes with laces so that they are securely worn.
• Wear jewelry. Choking is a hazard when you wear necklaces, and any jewelry can easily be lost or can fly off of you when you are on a ride. Do not wear large hoop earrings. You should not wear anything sentimental or expensive just in case, somehow, you lose your jewelry. Most amusement parks do not hold themselves accountable for any personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged.
