In 1995, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor decided to create their own fashion label, Travis Jeans, selling maternity pants. In 1996 the girls changed the name to Juicy Couture, aimed at creating girly apparel and a label equal to that of other major labels. But they wanted to make Juicy Couture more affordable to the general public. Juicy Couture was to include a variety of athletic and casual apparel, most notably the velour tracksuit that won Juicy Couture a great deal of popularity.
In 1996, after establishing their company, they needed to get the brand in the public eye, so the women sent their completed designs to celebrities. Madonna, a famous artist, was seen wearing the tracksuit, and the company became a success almost instantly. Around 2004, the velour tracksuit became very popular once again, then Juicy Couture became a worldwide known brand.
In 2006, Levy and Taylor introduced ‘Couture Couture’ consisting of 20 pieces and higher prices. This new line reflects the new lifestyles of the two fashion designers. And in 2008 they introduced the first collection of loungewear and sleepwear by Choose Sleep by Juicy Couture Intimate Apparel.
Today, Juicy Couture’s women’s clothing remains generally the same. But the company has expanded to include Juicy Couture Jewelry, Juicy Couture Necklaces, Juicy Couture Cosmetics, Juicy Couture Handbags,Juicy Couture Watch and children’s clothing.
