Double Beaded Double
What should I wear with a blazer that has a wide open fron twith a single button at the navel?
I just bought a cute little blazer – very now – but I can’t figure out what to wear with it. It is fitted at the waste and comes to about the hip. It is black with a suble mauve and purple plaid pattern. The trick is that it is not meant to close across the chest. Instead, it has a double breasted lapel that falls wide open to a single button around the naval area. I have tried a ruffle front blouse in mauve – way too busy. The sales clerk suggested a light long-sleeved sweater, but it looked sloppy. A cami with a bit of beading at the top looked unfinished. A t-shirt looked too plain. What’s left? I don’t want to return it, but it’s not looking like a solution with be easy to come by. Any ideas?
Never underestimate the power of a CRISP WHITE shirt! : ) If you already own a nice, white shirt (long sleeves, button down, crisp collar), then GOOD! If not, invest in one!
If you go w. the white collared shirt, make sure it is a blend of mostly cotton, BUT also has a touch of polyester (or modal, or spandex) in it, to keep it wrinkle-free!
Wear the white shirt under the blazer, and unbutton about 3 buttons or so — AND make sure you wear a GREAT necklace to accentuate your neck!
IF you are really against the white button-down shirt, a NICE white t-shirt (buy a NEW one) also looks good — BUT try on different types to see which one flatters most…. With the style blazer you are describing, I think a V-neck style would look great, and again, do not forget a GREAT becklace that falls just below your collar bone!
Believe me, BOTH will look GREAT!
Also — in addition to the GREAT necklace, don’t forget a nice pair of EARRINGS…!
