Hanger Holder
should i use a t-bar heavy bag holder?
i want to get a heavy bag (probably 80-100lbs) but where to hang it makes it difficult. the beams in my garage are the only place i could but they are pretty high up so i would need a long chain. so my question is would a t-bar wooden beam hanger be strong enough?
or one of those I-beam ones
the hanger itself would be strong enough but with time and punching,the bolts would strip from the wood joist.and if the joist is a 2×4,forget it don’t hang it.I’m not a fan of bag stands as it impedes your movements.I would suggest building a simple A-frame(looks like the frame from a kids swing set) that spans your garage.If not,i would place the bag on a wooden stand(you can make it to fit in a corner of your garage and for your height) and sit the bag on it.you wont have the ability to circle and move as much,but its effective for what its for,resistance training.Plus the bag wont move around.Hope this helps you.
