Neck and Neck Pain:

Occasionally you may not experience any type of pain at all. Instead you may experience numbness in the neck, back or shoulders. When the nerves in the neck are pinched, you may feel like your arm is “falling asleep” or you might feel a slight tingling sensation in the neck, shoulders and arms. Other signs of a pinched nerve are a burning or prickling sensation that travels throughout the head, neck and shoulder area.
Neck Pain Treatment:
At the first sign of neck injury, you should seek out medical assistance. You will need to decide if you want to see a medical doctor or a doctor of chiropractic. In many cases, medical doctors will refer you to a chiropractor or a physical therapist for strengthening and aligning of neck and spine. You may want to skip the medical doctor and go straight to a chiropractor if your insurance allows for faster relief.
Chiropractors must attend 4200 hours of schooling which includes a bare minimum of 1000 hours of supervised training in a clinical setting. The training is directed at treating neck, back and other spinal injuries.
The first thing a chiropractor will ask is about your medical history. They will want to know when and how the pain started and will most likely want to take some x-rays. Next you will be asked to rate the pain on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being not bad and 10 being the worst pain in your life. This is an important step as it helps determine the effectiveness of the treatment you receive.
