Why do women try to play in Mens golf touraments. They always end up playing poorly.?
Over the last decade you have seen women that excel at the womans professional golf level trying here and there to play against the men. When they play against women their level of play is so much better than when they enter a mens professional golf event. When playing in LPGA or Future tour events they play great. Then when they enter a PGA Tour event or even a mens mini tour event they play like crap. Why is this?
A tournament sponsor has a limit for completely unrestricted exemptions available, and those exemptions are often used to invite players; including amateurs and women who can increase ticket sales and tournament visibility.
Money, that’s your answer to why women play in Men’s Golf Tournaments; they’re invited by sponsors to up media ratings and ticket sales.

Then when they enter a PGA Tour event or even a Mens mini tour event they play like crap. Why is this?
They haven’t won or come close, but I wouldn’t say they play like crap, nor are they really expected to win, but a lot of the guys really get shaken up about this….perhaps they’re thinking, could they win?

Annika, Crap? Playing under pressure that most PGA Tour players will never come close to experiencing, Sorenstam was the picture of grace under pressure. She showed poise, dignity, class and sportsmanship – qualities that were completely missing in those critics who chose to pop off rather than offer thoughtful analysis.
She also displayed her incredible skills as a golfer. Her accuracy off the tee and with her long irons was the envy of every golfer, male or female. Through the first round she led the field in driving accuracy, was in the top 20 in greens in regulation, and was 84th out of 111 in driving distance. Unfortunately, her shortcomings on the course were also on display – she simply could not make a putt on Day 1, when she might have gone as low as 66 or 67.
By Day 2, when her putting had smoothed out, nerves were finally getting to her off the tee.
Babe Zaharias, before my time….but like George Herman Ruth (“The Sultan of Swat”, “The King of Crash”, “The Colossus of Clout”, “The Babe”, and the most known “The Great Bambino”), an athlete that has made history…Hall of Fame. I wouldn’t call that crap, I’d call that determined, focused, talented and amazing.
Mini Tours….not so poorly
Brittany Lincicome, 3rd place Moonlight Tour event, scoring a 1-under-par 71 at Windermere Country Club to finish five shots behind winner David Ziglar. Not bad for Barbie (One of her many sponsors).
Brittany was not the only professional woman golfer playing men’s mini-tour events to stay sharp during the long lull between the end of one LPGA Tour season and the start of another. Teen whiz kid Alexis Thompson regularly plays with the guys to keep her competitive juices flowing.
In fact, Thompson finished three shots back of the winner this January at a Minor League Golf Tour (MLGT) event in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The 15-year-old, who’s not old enough to be an LPGA member but awaits an edict from the tour about whether she’ll receive additional sponsor’s exemptions in 2011, closed just two shots back of PGA Tour vet and Nationwide Tour winner Brad Adamonis of Cumberland, R.I.

Why do they play poorly or not as well as most of the men, because they are women and there is no comparison, but isn’t it fun and exciting to watch….after all it is the PGA, not the MPGA and it is open to all invited.
