Where Did The Fendi Purse Come From?
Fendi purses came to be in 1925 in Rome, Italy at the hands of a young couple, Edoardo and Adele Fendi. Fendi bags immediately became the item to have and carried a certain prestige along with the well made furs. The business grew quickly during the 30′s and 40′s and became famous outside of Italy during this time.
The whole family got involved with the thriving business. In 1946, the 5 daughters of Edoardo and Adele brought their ideas into the family owned business. Their job was to develop and come up with new products for the Fendi bag and fur lines. The Fendi sisters soon brought Karl Lagerfeld into the business and his ideas revolutionized the family establishment. During this time the FF logo was designed and becomes a prominent feature on Fendi purses.
In 1969 Fendi bags have a transformation into soft, unstructured creations. The leather is printed and woven then dyed and tanned to make it more soft and attractive. A few years later, a line originally created by Adele Fendi is rediscovered. The Selleria line of purses, travel bags and other small leather goods are reintroduced. These handmade purses were hand finished by master saddlers and available in a limited edition series.
Silvia Venturini Fendi represents the third generation of the Fendi family founder and became the creative director. Her creativity lead to the Baguette, the small purse meant to be carried under the arm. The little Fendi purse was an immediate success and has been created in over six hundred versions, in many different and exotic materials. This Fendi purse is considered a necessity by those who love to carry Fendi purses and those who collect them.
Silvia Fendi follows on the success of the little baguette with the creation of the Spy bag in 2005 and the B Fendi purse in 2006. The Spy bag in denim and black leather is a favorite of celebrities Carmen Electra and Ashlee Simpson and Nikki Hilton has been seen carrying the medium B. Fendi purse in the Black Canvas Metallic Trim.
