The Baja Jacket is most widely known as the Baja Hoodie or Baja Sweatshirt. It originated from Mexico and became popular among U.S subcultures, most notably the hippies and surfers. They are otherwise known for shrinking a size after the first wash. The material also makes the hoodie comfortable and soft to the touch. It can still be worn in mildly warm temperature because of the material’s breathable quality. This is the type of hooded shirt to be worn to stay cool, dry, and to prevent sunburn. That is one reason they became popular among the surfer subculture.
The color patterns are the other reason the hoodie appeals to people. They usually consist of 3 colors in a vertical striped fashion, except for the front pocket pouch which has horizontal stripes. Because there are so many color variations, the quantity to choose from seems endless, and many outfits can be made from the clothes in one’s own closet. The Baja Jacket is the perfect top to go with any style of pants or shorts, shoes or sandals; for a rainy or sunny day, and for a night out or just hanging out.
